The main functions of Surfer software,ActiveX automation technique and the interface of VB application and Surfer are introduced in this paper.It is also introduced how to combine the strong ability of development using VB software and the strong mapping in  Surfer based on the interface.and the key program to Ca/Ty out the interface technique and a case of application automatic mapping are presented.

Based on the application of Lanzhou Doppler radar products, the theory pattern of vertically integrated liquid water content (VIL) which is one of radar physical quantity products was introduced in this article. Several issues was brought forward from some aspects of the influence of radar detecting range and height, reflectivity intensity on the calculation of VIL, as well as VIL changed with season variation, so as to supply some references to distinguish severe convective weather based on VIL.

The effect of a hail suppression by anti-hail gun which occurred on June 25, 2005 in the east part of the Qilian Mountain was analyzed by using the CINRAD/CC products, including the layer composite reflectivity factors, the maximum values of the vertical reflectivity, echo tops, the horizontal wind field in the hail cell, the vertical structure and the maximum values of VIL, their changes before and after the hail suppression, as well as ground precipitation. Results show: (1) There are two aspects of hail suppression effect by anti-hail gun: The first is that silver iodide crystals sprinkle fleetly around the explosive point, and collide with the surrounding frozen droplets, reducing the average quality and diameter of frozen droplets; the second is that the power from shells exploding suppresses the developing of the updrafts under the explosive point. (2) The hail suppression by anti-hail gun is available for rainfall increase on ground. As for this hail suppression process, assuming that liquid water in the hail cloud falls completely as raindrops to the ground, the precipitation on the ground will increase 4.69%.

The geographic character and climatic condition,the sort and spatial - temporal distribution of geological calamity in Qingyang city of Gansu province were analyzed in this paper,and the relation between geological calamity and precipitation there was discussed,and based on that,the meteorological monitoring and forecasting model was established by using discriminance and experience analysis method. Results show that the precipitation is the main reason resulting in geological calamity there,particularly the strong convective rainfall and continued rain events,July and August are the geological calamity high occurring period,and accurate weather forecast combined with the local geological condition will play an important role in geological calamity forecast

Through monitoring and analysis on atmospheric aerosol at surface boundary layer over Lanzhou city in March and April in 2002,some results are given out as follows:(1)The quality concentration of TSP over Lanzhou city is increasing evidently while the dust weather is occurring,and the more strong the sand dust is,the more high the quality concentration of TSP is,and the air pollution is more severe;(2)The quality concentration of TSP corresponds to that of PM10 well over Lanzhou city under different weather conditions,and the more strong the dust is,the more high the quality concentration of TSP and PM10 is,but the increase or decrease proportion of TSP and PM10 quality concentration is different;(3)The quality concentration of the same level particles is different under different weather conditions,but the quality concentration distribution of the diversified level particles is same under the same weather condition;(4)The sample chroma of TSP corresponds to the air quality in some degree ,if the value of L*,a*and b* is larger,then the sand dust in air is more and the air pollution is more severe,and the air pollution primarily comes from local black organic substance because the value of L*,a*and b* is much less under normal weather condition.

The causes of a heavy rain with hails and thunderstorm which occurred in the east part of Gansu province on July 4th 2004,were analyzed from three aspects of the synoptic environment,physical quantity field and the characteristics of Doppler radar echoes. Results show that it was a typical northwest flow pattern at the level of 500 hPa,and the intensity of cold advection increasing with height resulted in instability energy accumulation,the dry and cold air touching off the energy front from the east side of Tibet plateau to the middle part of Gansu province led to the strong convection. The evolution of radar echoes showed that the hailstones came from multi - cell storms and the meso - γ scale cyclone could be identified by the radial velocity products of Doppler radar

Abstract:Using the data of Dopplor radar and reanalysis data of NECP/NCAR, the rainstorm process which occurred on August 27,
28 in 2003 in Gansu province was analyzed in this paper. The results show that the reason of veer degree of zero speed line differing
from one side to the other side of the station was the big scale confluence adding on the warm advection, the structure offered advan-
tageous vertical vapor transportation and confluence rising for producing and maintaining strong precipitation; upwind section and
middle-small scale confluence ( divergence) were in close connection with strong precipitation and that is an important index on pre-
cipitation prediction; the region and amount of precipitation have connection with the amount of vapor flux transportation and the de-
gree of vapor confluence.

Based on the geological calamity relevant materials of the past 40 years in Gansu province,the current situations,geographical distribution characteristic of geological calamity and its happening characteristic in Gansu were introduced. It also demonstratedthat the meteorological factors such as hardrain etc,are the main factors leading geological calamity in Gansu.The prediction method of geological calamity was given out and the preliminary prediction mode was set up as well,and its effect was examined by using geological calamity which was actually happening in 2003 in Gansu province,found that the rate of accuracy reaches more than 73%,it proved that the prediction mode has certain prediction ability.
